A life-long Reagan Republican, James Wilson is a conservative leader who has been very active in the North Harris County community.
Wilson has a great deal of experience working in both state and federal government. He served as a Regional Director for United States Senator Phil Gramm (R - TX), managing operations and outreach in both South and Central Texas.
He served as a Chief of Staff during the 75th Legislative Session, and as a Legislative Assistant during the 74th and 73rd Sessions. While at the Legislature, Wilson assisted in eliminating wasteful and redundant state agencies and commissions, helped pass new laws, and prevented many wasteful and harmful bills from being enacted.
Wilson is a licensed insurance agent and the President of Wilson Risk Management LLC. He has served on several industry committees for local insurance organizations and associations. Locally, he has served on the board of his neighborhood homeowners association as Treasurer, Vice President and President.
Wilson is a member of Cherry Tree Republicans, and is an associate member of the Northwest Forest Republican Women, Texas Tea Party Republican Women, Memorial West Republican Women, and the Cy-Fair Republican Women clubs.
Wilson is a strong advocate for business and both public and higher education. He and his wife Paige are the proud parents of James Andrew Wilson, 7th grade, and Savannah Grace Wilson, 6th grade, both of whom attend public schools in the Klein school district.
A graduate of South Garland High School, Wilson received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Government from the University of Texas at Austin. The Wilson family attends Memorial Baptist Church.
James Wilson is an Eagle Scout.
