Biography: 

Chuck Maricle has lived in the Sagemont area of Harris County for over 23 years. Born in Buffalo, New York in 1960 he attended St. Josephs Collegiate Institute (high school) and then Canisius College, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in 1982.

Joining the Army Reserve in 1979 while in college, he was commissioned an officer through the ROTC program in 1981. He then entered active duty where he graduated from the US Army Engineer Officer School and was also certified as a Nuclear, Biological and Chemical warfare specialist. He served as a US Army Combat Engineer Officer until 1988 having held a number of leadership positions.

After leaving active duty, he joined McDonnell Douglas Corporation as a computer engineer during the 1980s in St. Louis, Missouri followed by 12 years with General Motors / GM Hughes Electronics in Detroit, Michigan working as a technical engineer at the Cadillac Motor Division. Following a promotion, he was relocated to Houston, Texas in 1988 supporting military and government projects for the (then) GM Hughes Aircraft division. During his time at GM he also completed doctoral studies under an executive program culminating in the publication of his dissertation on factory automation (Dec 22, 1999 RCI Journal of Supercomputing).

During the late 1990's he was the General Manager of Phonoscope Communications, developing the nations first metropolitan ultra high speed fiber optic data network in Greater Houston. He then went on to senior executive positions with a number of telecommunications carriers and manufacturer start-up firms helping them develop their products for global markets.

Over the last several years, he has become a leading industry expert and technologist with laser and photonic systems currently holding four medical laser patents. He and his wife, Xia, run a private family business for custom laser and LED products along with special development projects for the US Government. He has been a speaker on medical and general laser technology at numerous conferences world-wide.

In the post 9/11 world he felt if was time to 'dust off" his military leadership skills and joined the US Coast Guard Auxiliary http://www.uscg.mil/auxiliary/ under the US Department of Homeland Security. He currently is the District Captain, 8th Coastal Region serving Sector Houston-Galveston and Sector New Orleans responsible for 1000 personnel with surface and air operations from Freeport, Texas to New Orleans, Louisiana and has been decorated several times for humanitarian and operations excellence including his activity during hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Ike. He has been extensively trained as an Incident Commander through FEMA and the US Coast Guard. Additionally, Chuck is an NRA and Texas CHL instructor and certified Law Enforcement firearms instructor serving local military members.

Chuck has been married to his wife Xia for 11 years with two children, attending St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church.
